My Life: Anime, Manga, Video Games

Age of Conan

I love this game. There’s no other way for me to describe how much I enjoy playing it. Sure you’ve got your guilds like Ebonwh–Ebonlore who make the game less fun because of hacking, exploiting, zerging, and whining to GMs, but then you’ve also got the expert PvPers like Unforgiven who gank you after moving an inch. The guild I’ve stuck with for more than two years is The Exodus Gaming Syndicate. We were the first to Tier 1 and Tier 2 Guild City Keeps and the 3rd to Tier 3 and a Battle keep on the Tyrrany Server. I love my guild, they’re all great individuals. Many call us a zerg guild because we have members. Personally, I believe y’all are just jealous that we can get members. Though, our numbers don’t even stand up to Ebonlore, damn talk about a zerg guild… I don’t prefer PvP servers (my guild went there so I followed) BUT what are you going to do if someone starts killing your mobs on a PvE server? Bitch to a GM? Have a staring contest? No. You can’t do jack. I’ve been in AoC since February Beta, some aspects of the game that were changed, I liked. Yet most of the content that was changed, was for the better. The current Shield of Risen is horrible though. Casters can’t buff themselves or summon pets until the shield wears off. Talk about the ultimate gank, unbuffed casters. For the most part, Funcom has done it right and by the book. I mean, they took an extra 7 hours for a patch on the last “free day” from the free month MMO companies give you with the game. So what did they do? Gave us an extra day. That was great! I got an extra day to play and without any effort at all.

I do have a problem with Funcom’s crafting system. Talk about a POS system. It’s a joke. Anyone can craft high level gear after only a few hours of leveling their crafting skills. No difficulty involved. The only exceptions are Alchemy (gotta find all the mats or have a TON of money) and Architecture (need $$$ to buy plans). Ryzom (may it rest in peace) had a much better crafting system. In fact, it’s the best I’ve ever seen. Though I haven’t been in MMOs for very long, a guildmate of mine, Kalindra, often comments on how Ryzom was the hardest crafting system around. I can’t even fathom how much time she put into crafting in that game…..it was insane.

Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars and Kane’s Wrath

Thought I’d make this a bulk post, I mean, I’m lazy. Too much clicking involved to make two posts that could be posted in tandem right? I hope so.

Anyways…Tiberium Wars is a great game now that EALA released the patches for it. But damn was the game glitched at 1.00, kinda sad. A buddy of mine, Blbpaws (he’s the PR guy and the “boss” of the project), at Generals World recently announced his second mod, The Forgotten. His first mod, All-Stars, which was for Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour, used up too much bandwidth on download day that Generals World’s host brought the site down for a day. If only EA would release a Mod SDK for Kane’s Wrath (which was finally patched after over 3 months of horrible bugs and disconnects)…I know for a fact Blbpaws would transfer the mod over to Kane’s Wrath. Alas, he and I do not believe there will be a Mod SDK for Kane’s Wrath since it took so long for the first patch and because Red Alert 3 is under development.

For those of you who know the storyline behind the Tiberium branch of C&C, The Forgotten are the mutants who appear and play a major role in the earlier games yet are all but pushed out of the picture (they make their appearance as Mutant Marauders with their capturable Mutant Hovel) in Tiberium Wars and Kane’s Wrath. From what forum posts say at Generals World, Blbpaws and his team are bringing back a couple of old NOD and GDI units (some are modified) as scavenged vehicles. I guess The Forgotten are going to beĀ  mainly old-school tech…with an ion storm power of some sort. Looks promising in my eyes and I wish them the best of luck.

My Current Anime/Manga

I just finished Berserk manga up to the end of volume 33, it’s great so far but the anime doesn’t do it justice. I mean, you don’t even learn why the story is called berserk until volume 27 or so. Very sad that the anime stopped after the 8th volume, but oh well.

Unfortunately, Code Geass R2 and Vampire Knight just ended. Those were great, I impatiently waited until the new episodes were released and subbed…. Code Geass is one of my all time favs. It and Death Note are what got me hooked almost a year ago. Code Geass is one of those anime that I could watch over and over again and never be bored. Lelou is just…a tactical genius to say the least.

I’ve got though all the current Bleach chapters and anime episodes (so far the current non-manga arc is pretty good, unlike the first Bounto arc *rolls eyes*). I wish the anime would get back on track with the manga, would be nice to see some of those fights Kubo Tite actually designed. Those are normally better and fewer of the infamous “DBZ Powerup” scenes.

Ah, almost forgot: D. Gray-Man…one of the few decent animes not liscenced in the US. The series is going to end soon I think (T_T very sad) BUT it’s been a good, yet bumpy ride. For those of you who watched it, didn’t you want to go beat the crap out of Allen post-”red arm” and pre pre-”crowned clown”? (trying not to ruin the plot here)

If you’re looking for anime or manga and can’t find what you’re looking for, my favorite anime/manga download site is Cireus-Anime, they have virtually all the current manga/anime and most of the older stuff to date. Great administrators and moderators, some of the nicest people around as long as you follow the rules :)
